Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach, just two hours south of San Francisco, is widely regarded as the best public golf course in the country, and with good reason. Its rocky coastal views make it both a stunning and very difficult course to play. Nearly 70,000 rounds of golf are played at Pebble Beach each year, and it was host to many of the PGA Tour’s best golfers at its sixth U.S. Open in 2019.

Torrey Pines

Several hours south on California’s coast is Torrey Pines, another top-notch municipal course with picturesque views. Torrey Pines was originally a military training facility, Camp Callen, which opened in 1941 and was used for anti-aircraft artillery replenishment. The south course is infamously difficult to play, even for the professionals. The course underwent a massive renovation in the early 2000s, which added several hundred yards in length and altered some of the terrain to make it even more challenging.

The Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort

Tucked away in beautiful northern Idaho along the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene is the Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort. In addition to a tranquil, luxurious spa and fine dining, the resort’s golf course features the famous “floating green” on the 14th hole. Golf packages at the resort include a shuttle to and from the course, a forecaddie for each group, a pre-round sports massage and more.

Destination Kohler

If you’re based in the Midwest, you don’t need to travel far for “above par” golf courses. The Kohler, WI area is home to Erin Hill and Whistling Straits, host of the 2021 Ryder Cup. Your custom golf experience isn’t complete without a stop at Kohler’s famous Kohler Waters Spa or fine dining at The Immigrant, Blackwolf Run, or The Wisconsin Room.

Payne’s Valley

Feel like sticking in the Midwest? Play the country’s first public-access golf course designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design firm at Payne’s Valley in Hollister, MO. Enjoy the breathtaking Ozark Mountain landscape while challenging yourself on the bonus “Big Rock at Payne’s Valley” 19th hole. The course’s home, Big Cedar Lodge, also features four other golf courses, fine dining, a spa, and space for business meetings if you feel like combining work with your play.

TPC Sawgrass

Florida boasts the most golf courses of any state in the country, and at the top of that list is none other than TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach. TPC Sawgrass is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in the country and was purchased by then-PGA Commissioner Deane Beman in 1979 for just $1. In fact, the check still hangs in the clubhouse. Try your hand at one of the most challenging holes in golf on the notorious island green at the 17th hole!

Kiawah Island Golf Resort

Golf might be the main attraction for your trip, but Kiawah Island has lots to offer. From big game fishing to biking to swimming and more, there are countless ways to relax in the beautiful Palmetto State. With a whopping five courses to choose from, designed by golf greats like Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus, you’re likely to need some new golf shoes by the end of the trip.

Pinehurst

Situated halfway between Charlotte and Raleigh in rural North Carolina is one of the best destinations for golf in the country. And while it’s always been known for golf, the area has truly exploded in popularity in the last 10 years. During your custom golf experience at Pinehurst, you can enjoy the options for dining and lodging that have been recently added to accommodate the influx of visitors and golf enthusiasts.

Bethpage State Park Golf Course

Heading up the Eastern Seaboard is Bethpage State Park Golf Course in Farmingdale, NY. Perhaps not as well known as some of the West Coast courses, Bethpage receives high praise for being both one of the best and one of the toughest public courses and, in 2025, will host the Ryder Cup.

This list just scratches the surface of the kinds of custom golf experiences we can plan for your group.
