Florida

Sunny Florida is home to roughly 1,250 golf courses — more than any other state. From Jacksonville to Miami, and everywhere in between, there’s a course for every golfer.

Tournament Players Club (TPC) Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach is consistently ranked among the top 100 best golf courses in the country and was purchased by then-PGA Commissioner Deane Beman for just $1 in 1979. In fact, the check hangs in TPC Sawgrass’ clubhouse. The Pete Dye-designed course is home to the famous 17th hole, known as the island green 17th, where the green sits on a small island, presenting a great challenge to players. It’s also home to the Players Championship.

The highly anticipated Cabot Citrus Farms Golf Course, about an hour north of Tampa, is set to open in 2023. The course will offer golfers two 18-hole courses, a 9-hole course, and practice facilities set against a gorgeous natural backdrop.

California

California’s varied terrain and natural elements make it a desirable locale for golfers. Having hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, Pebble Beach is perhaps the most well-known public golf course in the world. Pebble Beach runs directly along the rocky Pacific coast, located on the stunning Monterey Peninsula, making it among the most picturesque and challenging courses to play.

Similarly, Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego sits atop cliffs along the Pacific and is one of the best municipal courses in the world. Creating a custom golf travel package is easy with these two great courses!

Arizona

Unsurprisingly, Arizona’s stunning landscape makes for some beautifully designed golf courses. Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler features 36 holes across a gorgeous desert backdrop, making you feel worlds away from the city — even though Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport is just 11 miles away. Head north toward Flagstaff to Elephant Rocks in Williams, AZ, home to cooler temps, gorgeous views, and an expert-design course that sits 7,000 feet above sea level.

South Carolina

Famous for its low country boils and Palmetto trees, South Carolina’s temperate climate in the winter months makes it an excellent golf destination. The Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers a whopping five championship courses alongside luxurious oceanfront accommodations. The Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island is another course designed by Pete Dye, along with golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

Bonus Location – Wisconsin
